Energy drinks, energy shots, and supplements have now become a part of the ‘keep me awake’ club. They are known to be consumed by most of the population, especially the younger generation that needs those extra crucial late-night hours to follow up on studies and assignments.

A common question asked by people is why energy drinks? The answer is simple.

Energy drinks are easier to grab and, at the same time, are performing their function supremely, much better than caffeine or tea could ever achieve.

They offer a variety of benefits:

  5. Improve mood and attitude

Some common ingredients found in energy drinks are sugar, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, herbs, and B-vitamins.

These ingredients are beneficial in regulating energy supply throughout the body and helping you tackle your sleep problems but at the cost of a maintained consumption.

However, excessive consumption of energy drinks can harm your health and create significant adverse effects.

According to the Mayo Clinic, caffeine doses of up to 400mg per day appear to be safe for most healthy individuals. However, it is not recommended that you regularly consume high amounts of caffeine.

Personally, I get by fine with just 50 to 100 mg of caffeine per day. I don’t really see the need to keep putting the pedal to the metal, so to speak.

If you do plan on taking energy drinks regularly, a single drink per day should keep you safe from any harmful after effects.

You may encounter strange side effects of headaches, sleeplessness, nervousness, restlessness, upset stomach, and a fast heartbeat if you go over the limit.

What Energy Drink Has the Most Caffeine?

Before I delve into the different energy drinks loaded with caffeine, I just want to say that I don’t recommend taking highly-caffeinated beverages.

If you have a low caffeine tolerance, even moderate amounts can overwhelm you. And if you are used to taking large amounts of caffeine, it’s still not advised to push the limit every day since you can get dependent on caffeine.

Precautions When Taking Caffeine

The drinks listed above are unsuitable for children, caffeine-sensitive people, nursing mothers, or pregnant women.

They should only be consumed by healthy individuals and are aware of their caffeine tolerance and sensitivity levels.

It is not a healthy idea to consume 300 mg of energy drink in a day, yet if you plan on having it, do not make the counted cross 1.

Caffeine consumption should not exceed 400mg, according to the FDA. Since tolerances differ, you may be able to tolerate more caffeine without experiencing any adverse side effects, but this is the general rule of thumb.

Taking this much caffeine in one go would be hazardous; the first time I drank Brein Fuel, I could not stop physically jittering around, and the speed of my heart rate would have put F1 drivers to shame. It’s not a pleasant experience.

What Drinks Are Low in Caffeine?

Other low caffeinated energy drinks like Red Bull, Burn, Nos, and Full Throttle contain a high content of sugar that is equally damaging like a strong caffeinated energy drink. In the end, both can harm you, just in different ways.

It’s essential to keep in mind that choosing an energy drink is about more than just the caffeine amount; you should also examine how much sugar is in it and what components you’ll be putting into your body.

Just because one drink appears to be low in caffeine does not mean you should consume more than one.
