What Are EAAs And BCAAs And How They Help Our Body?

Reign contains about 1000mg of BCAAs (Branch-Chained Amino Acids) in their drink, which consist of L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine. Although they are important, these supplements aren’t produced naturally by our bodies. So, they need to be acquired from food or supplements.

The health benefits of BCAAs are provided below:

  • Increased muscle growth.
  • Decreased muscle soreness.
  • Reduced exercise fatigue.
  • Prevention of muscle deterioration.
  • Improved liver health.

On the other hand, Bang contains EAAs (Essential Amino Acids), which contain BCAAs and 6 other essential amino acids (L-Lysine, L-Threonine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Histidine, L-Methionine, and L-Tryptophan).

According to experts, having EAAs along with BCAAs may be more beneficial for your health. These effects include:

  • Improved mood and sleep
  • Boosting exercise performance
  • Can prevent muscle degradation
  • May promote weight loss
Bang Energy Drink description
Although the quantity is not specified, the back of a can of Bang suggests it contains EAA’s

So in context of amino acids, Bang seems to have more health benefits with its EAAs compared to Reign’s BCAAs.

But unlike Reign, we don’t know the exact amount of EAAs present in Bang. So, you should keep that in mind when choosing between the two.

What Is Coenzyme Q10?

Coenzyme Q10 is a nutrient which forms naturally in the body and acts as an antioxidant. It protects cells from damage and plays an important part in the metabolism process. While this may sound great, we have no idea how much Coenzyme Q10 is actually present in either of these drinks.

Super Creatine (in Bang)

"Super Creatine" label on Bang energy drink
A can of Bang with “Super Creatine” printed at the top

Super Creatine is an exclusive ingredient for Bang Energy Drink. And it’s used as their unique selling point.

This is normal Creatine combined with L-Leucine, so that it is easier for the body to absorb. Combining the two makes it water-stable and it helps with mental focus because it can cross the blood-brain barrier more easily.

Creatine is a regular sports supplement that has several health benefits. It’s mostly used to improve performance and increase muscle strength for athletes.

However, the benefits of creatine is reduced significantly if mixed with caffeine because it loses its potency.

The exact amount of creatine in a can of Bang is still unknown to considering the high caffeine count, it’s difficult to assume if “Super Creatine” is actually beneficial.

Calorie Count (Reign vs. Bang)

Reign contains 10 calories per 16 fl. oz can whereas there are no calories in Bang.

Considering that the daily recommended calorie intake for adults is 2400 to 3000 calories for men and 2000 to 2400 calories for women, the calorie count of Reign or Bang should have no impact on your diet.

If you are an active person, you might want to consider Reign for its 10 calories. On the flip side, if you are on a diet, Bang’s zero-calorie formula would be better for you.

However, I personally don’t think the difference in calories makes much difference when choosing which energy drink you would want.

The Main Differences Between Reign and Bang

Caffeine

Both Reign and Bang contain 300mg of caffeine (in different variants). While Reign has 300mg of regular caffeine, the 300mg of caffeine in Bang is anhydrous caffeine.

Regular caffeine is pretty much self-explanatory. It’s the element you find in coffee and other energy drinks which helps to keep you awake and also boosts your awareness and concentration.

Anhydrous caffeine, on the other hand, is different from regular caffeine. It’s caffeine, but it has water and other chemical elements which are filtered out by a laboratory process.

Although it’s said that anhydrous caffeine is more concentrated than regular caffeine, research suggests there’s no significant difference between the two variants of caffeine when it comes to enhancing sports performance.

Typically, the industry standard is 160-200 mg of caffeine. Both Bang and Reign have almost double the caffeine content making them two of the strongest energy drinks in the market.

The FDA suggests a maximum caffeine consumption limit of 400mg of caffeine per day. Considering that, both Reign and Bang contain caffeine very close to the limit.

Consuming any more than the limit would cause severe health issues such as:

  • Insomnia
  • Shakiness
  • Anxiousness
  • Increased Heart Rate
  • Stomach Aches
  • Nausea
  • Headaches

Though it varies from person to person as some people naturally have a higher caffeine tolerance level. I would advise you to consult with a health specialist before having too many of these strong energy drinks, as it might lead to other illnesses in the long run.

Reign and Bang are said to have no sugar in the list of their ingredients. So it is great news for sugar-free and low-calorie drink fans.

However, they contain zero calorie artificial sweeteners in both Reign and Bang energy drinks.
