Red Bull Red Edition Review (Truth)

Red Bull Red Edition
An edition specially made for the watermelon lovers

Red Bull’s popularity has grown as a result of its incredible productivity, concentration, and overall performance benefits. Drinking a lot of it regularly, on the other hand, has been related to several negative outcomes.

Red Bull debuted its watermelon-flavored summer version during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Since then, this variation has become one of the most popular watermelon energy drinks.

This refreshing drink has a sweet and slightly tangy watermelon flavor, though, it might not be as sweet as other energy drinks with a similar flavor.

The caffeine level is 32 mg per 100 ml, therefore every 250 ml can have 80 mg.

Taurine, caffeine, sugar, B-Vitamins, and water are among the constituents. The sugar content is a major concern since an 8-ounce serving can include up to 26 grams of sugar.

I would rate this drink a six out of ten. Red Bull Red Edition, in my opinion, is not the best edition in the Red Bull series, but it excels at providing a burst of energy that lasts several hours, thanks to its caffeine content and taurine inclusion.

Continue reading to learn more about the components in Red Bull Yellow Edition and their health implications.

Ingredients Of Red Bull Red Edition Energy Drink

The Red Bull Energy Drink formula features a one-of-a-kind combination of high-quality components. Caffeine, taurine, B vitamins, sweeteners, and carbonated water are the main constituents.

  1. Carbonated Water
  2. Citric Acid
  3. Sucrose
  4. Glucose
  5. Sodium Citrate
  6. Taurine
  7. Caffeine
  8. Niacinamide
  9. Calcium Pantothenate
  10. Pyridoxine HCL
  11. Vitamin B12
  12. Natural and Artificial Flavor

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the human body and is consumed regularly. It plays a role in a variety of biological processes.

Taurine is abundant in muscle, the brain, the heart, and the blood. Taurine is dispersed throughout a 154-pound person’s body in the amount of 70g.

To put it another way, a 154-pound individual already has 70 times the quantity of taurine in their body as a can of Red Bull Energy Drink.

Taurine can be found in a variety of foods, including scallops, fish, poultry, and most infant formulae.

Taurine may help athletes perform better because of its ability to improve muscle contraction and delay muscle exhaustion. This is a prime reason for its inclusion in energy drinks.

Taurine benefits people who have:

  1. Diabetes
  2. Risk of heart disease
  3. Eye problems
  4. Poor liver health
  5. Neurological problems

Sodium Citrate

Sodium citrate is citric acid’s sodium equivalent. It is used as a sour salt flavor enhancer because it preserves the disagreeable taste of citric acid.

Most drinks have a sour flavor because of sodium citrate. It also acts as a pH regulator and stabilizer.

Sodium citrate can also be used to buffer and neutralize gastric acid.

The acidity of urine is lowered when sodium citrate is converted down into sodium bicarbonate, allowing more compounds that cause kidney stones to be eliminated.

The following are some of the potential advantages:

  1. Increment in exercise periods.
  2. Prevents inhalation of stomach acid and acid reflux.
  3. Prevention of the development of renal stones.
  4. Enhancing the quality and stability of food.
  5. Used to make the urine less acidic.

Carbonated Water

Carbonated water is created by pressurizing carbon dioxide. As a result, water includes carbonic acid, a weak acid. If you gulp it down, you may experience hiccups or indigestion.

It is bubbly because of the high sugar content combined with the acidity created by carbonation.

If you drink a lot of sparkling water, you could feel bloated, but Japanese researchers discovered that this side effect can be beneficial.

They had a group of ladies fast for 24 hours and then drink either still or sparkling water slowly. They discovered that just 250ml of water created 900ml of gas, so it is no surprise that the women’s bellies expanded significantly and they felt full even though they had not eaten.

Since your enamel is directly exposed to acid, one of the most serious concerns regarding sparkling water is its impact on your teeth.

Although there is not much research on the subject, one study indicated that sparkling mineral water damaged enamel only slightly more than still water. Mineral water was also 100 times less harmful than a sugary soft drink.

Although, a few more of its benefits other than making you feel fuller are:

  1. Weight Loss
  2. Digestion
  3. Improves heart health
  4. Hydration
  5. Relieves constipation

Caffeine Content Of Red Bull Red Edition

Coffee Beans
Coffee Beans are an excellent source of caffeine.

Red Bull Energy Drinks contain 80 mg of caffeine per 250 mL can.

Ancient civilizations were aware of caffeine. It can be found in over 60 different plants. It is derived from natural sources such as tea, coffee, cacao beans, and cola nuts, and its stimulating effects on the human body are well-known.

Caffeine is processed in the same way whether it comes from natural sources or Red Bull Energy Drink.

Caffeine has a stimulating effect on cognitive functions, which is one of its principal effects on the human body.

Although individuals consume them in energy drinks for their known benefits, it has proven to harm many other individuals through its negative impact on human body functions.

The FDA recommends a daily limit of 400mg of caffeine as safe, any limit exceeding that can result in headaches, irritability, agitation, and a fast heart rate.

Other harmful effects of caffeine are:

  1. Panic attacks or anxiety attacks
  2. Dehydration
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Headaches
  5. Seizures
  6. Irregular heartbeat
  7. Sweating
  8. Death
  9. Insomnia

Calories

The calories in Baya Energy are higher than in most other energy beverages, at 160 cal.

Nonetheless, because your body requires calories to function, it is the ideal number to keep you going throughout the day.

Weight gain can occur if you consume too many calories and do not burn them off rapidly enough through exercising. It is critical to make good use of the energy gained from calories.

Our bodies require energy to function properly. In contrast, not enough can put you at risk for health problems due to a lack of energy that keeps us going throughout the day.

B-Vitamins

Eggs
An excellent source of vitamin-b12

Niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are water-soluble B-group vitamins included in Red Bull.

Vitamins are micronutrients that are required to keep the body functioning normally.

These vitamins assist a range of enzymes in carrying out their functions, which include releasing energy from carbs and fats, breaking down amino acids, and delivering oxygen and energy-containing substances throughout the body.

It is found in:

  1. Milk
  2. Cheese
  3. Eggs
  4. Meat
  5. Fish
  6. Dark green vegetables
  7. Fruits, such as citrus, banana, and watermelon

Vitamins are divided into two categories: fat-soluble and water-soluble. Water-soluble vitamins are included in Red Bull.

Water-soluble vitamins are not preserved as well as fat-soluble vitamins in the body. Rather, they circulate through the plasma in the blood.

The benefits of B-Vitamins are:

  1. Reduce stress level
  2. Better mood
  3. Reduce anxiety

Sugar Content Of Red Bull Red Edition

This variation contains 11 grams of sugar per 100 mL, which is approximately identical to the amount of sugar found in 100 mL of apple juice.

Sugars are well-known carbohydrates that can be found in a variety of foods, including fruits and fruit juices, as well as other beverages such as energy drinks.

These can increase the drink’s energy boost as well as the caffeine’s negative effects. To help with their energy-boosting effects, energy drinks generally contain a lot of sugar.

Let me warn you that the amount of sugar in a 250 mL serving is more than twice the recommended daily intake for women.

According to the American Heart Association, women should consume no more than 24 grams of sugar per day, while men should consume no more than 36 grams.

First and foremost, diabetics should avoid this beverage due to its high sugar content. Second, even for healthy folks, this amount of sugar is still excessive and can produce a variety of symptoms.

Drawbacks of too much sugar:

  1. Acne
  2. Weight gain
  3. Depression
  4. Heart problem
  5. Crash

Sugar-free versions of these special editions are no longer available from Red Bull. It’s possible that the sugar-free watermelon version has been discontinued, or that there are other reasons.

Let’s have a look at how sugar can affect your brain.

The flavor of Red Bull Red Edition

The original Red Bull Energy Drink was a light yellow color, but the Red Edition is a deep reddish-purple color. The aroma is delicious and watermelon-like, and it lingers after you have gulped it.

The pleasant perfume spreads after the first drink, a tiny green odor passes through my nose, and it smells like watermelon.

It has a bit of sweetness, similar to strawberry syrup, and the flavor unique to energy drinks is not as strong, and the carbonic acid strength is nearly the same as the standard.

I would rate this flavor a 7 out of 10. The primary reason for the subtraction of 3 marks is the overall taste which is a mix between sweet and sour. I prefer sweet energy drinks since they make you feel refreshed and enhance your mood.

Plus point for this drink would be that it doesn’t taste artificial like most energy drinks and provides you with a taste of watermelon as promised.

Things I Like And Dislike about Red Bull Red Edition

Due to the sugar and calorie level, as well as the inclusion of sweeteners, I wouldn’t call Red Bull Red Edition outstanding. It does, however, provide a burst of energy thanks to its high caffeine level and taurine inclusion, which is also its unique selling proposition.

Things I like about Red Edition are:

  1. An immediate energy burst.
  2. Improves cognitive performance.
  3. Taste of watermelon.
  4. High calories
  5. Presence of B-Vitamins.

Things I dislike like about Red Edition are:

  1. High sugar content
  2. Presence of artificial sweeteners

Runa Clean Energy Drink

From the Amazon Forest

Runa is unique since it contains plant-based antioxidants, has fewer calories, and contains no artificial sweeteners.

It has 150mg of natural caffeine per 12 fl. oz serving, which means that one serving contains more caffeine than two espressos.

Runa has a natural source of caffeine (guayusa) that will not have a detrimental impact on your health.

Guayusa, an Amazonian leaf, contains organic caffeine, which keeps you alert for several hours.

This drink is ideal for people looking for a healthy energy drink because it has no fat, vitamins, or potassium. This beverage also contains extremely little sodium.

Conclusion

This fruit-based energy drink follows the same formula as other Red Bull products. It helps you get through even the busiest of days because of its caffeine and taurine levels. It does contain an excess of sugar which is a negative point for it, yet the low caffeine level makes it a good try.

The nicest aspect is that it doesn’t leave a lingering aftertaste as other brands’ watermelon flavors do.

If you have a sugar sensitivity, are pregnant, nursing, or under the age of 18, I wouldn’t recommend this drink. If you’re healthy and looking for a fresh way to get through the day, you should give it a shot and see how it goes.
