Celsius Energy Drink Calorie Content

For reference, a standard can of Celsius Original contains 10 calories while the rest of the three versions contains 15 calories.

The calorie content of all the Celsius variants is quite low compared to other energy drinks. For example, an 8.4 fl. oz. Red Bull contains 100 calories, and a 16 fl. oz. Game Fuel has 90 calories.

With this comparison, you can now have a clear idea of how low the number of calories you’ll get in each can of Celsius.

Celsius, having no caloric value is a reason to not substitute it with meals. Just because it gives you energy, it doesn’t mean you gain nutritional value from it.

As a reminder, the daily recommended calorie intake for women is about 2000 calories and 2500 for men.

Celsius Energy Drink Caffeine Content

The amount of caffeine in Celsius ranges from 100 to 300 mg depending on the version.

Have a look at the table below to get a better view.

VersionCaffeine Amount
Celsius Originals200 mg
Celsius Stevia200 mg
Celsius+Energy100 mg
Celsius Heat300 mg
Caffeine amount in different versions of Celsius

The FDA recommends a daily caffeine limit of 400 mg for healthy adults which is about five cups of coffee.

Too much caffeine can lead to the following symptoms:

  • insomnia
  • restlessness
  • nausea
  • anxiety
  • dizziness
  • irritability

However, we all have different reactions to caffeine and you may not notice any of these symptoms despite exceeding the recommended amount if you have high caffeine tolerance.

But to be safe, I’d like to recommend sticking to one can of any Celsius variant per day because it’s not the only sugary or caffeinated thing in your diet.

Celsius Energy Drink Sugar Content

Celsius is a sugar-free energy drink but it uses sucralose, stevia, and erythritol as sweeteners.

You’re probably aware of the controversies surrounding these groups of artificial sweeteners. Personally, it’s nothing to worry about as long as you limit your intake of anything that has artificial sweeteners.

Moreover, the FDA considers it safe for general use under certain conditions.

I have created this table to show how these sweeteners differ from one another.

Type of SweetenersDescription
Sucralosea zero-calorie sweetener that is 400 to 700 times sweeter than regular sugar
the sweetener used in Celsius Heat
Steviaa zero-calorie sweetener that is up to 200 times sweeter than regular sugar
the sweetener used in Celsius Stevia
Erythritol a type of sugar alcohol used as a sugar substitute
it contains zero calories
used as a sweetener in the powdered version of Celsius
The artificial sweeteners used in Celsius Energy Drinks and their descriptions.

As you can see, Celsius is definitely a fine choice if you’re looking for sugar-free energy drinks.

But don’t get too comfortable because long-term consumption of anything that has artificial sweeteners comes with adverse effects.

And that premise brings us to this strong point – limit your consumption of Celsius to one can per day.

Is it bad to drink 2 Celsius in a day?

Drinking two cans of Celsius in a day could be bad for you, especially when you are sensitive to caffeine.

It can make you feel sick and feel jittery due to the increased amount of caffeine ingested.

Even if you think that you might have high caffeine tolerance, I don’t think consuming two cans of Celsius in a day is a good idea.

It can lead to caffeine discomfort, high blood sugar, and high sugar levels, which are detrimental to your health.

How long do energy drinks stay in your system?

You’ll feel the effects of caffeine in your body after 15 to 45 minutes from ingestion and it will take 5 to 6 six hours to get rid of the caffeine in your bloodstream.

You’ll become more alert, energized, and feel better about yourself after 45 minutes due to the caffeine kick. At this point, the good old caffeine works by temporarily blocking adenosine and releasing dopamine, a “feel good” molecule.

The caffeine subsides after an hour leading to a sugar crash, fatigue, and tiredness at the same time.

However, this could depend on certain factors such as body type, metabolic rate, and activity level.

Are Celsius drinks bad for you?

Celsius drinks are not bad for you as long as you consume them in healthy amounts.

Ingredients-wise, Celsius is not bad at all because it does not contain sugar, artificial preservatives, flavors, and colors. Plus, it has no traces of high fructose corn syrup!

Moreover, the caffeine amount seems to be intolerable for someone with low tolerance. I suggest going for Celsius BCAA+ if you have low caffeine tolerance, and try the Celsius Heat later when you feel like you are more used to caffeine.

I like my energy drinks to have more or less 150 mg of caffeine per serving and I find the BCAA+ variant a convenient choice.

Speaking of caffeine, Celsius Heat has the highest caffeine in all of the Celsius variants. It contains 300 mg caffeine, which I can pretty much ingest within a day without feeling jittery as long as it’s in healthy intervals.

So, the best takeaway here is to drink in moderation and to listen to your body’s reaction to caffeine.

Different Flavors of Celsius Energy Drinks.

Can you drink too much Celsius?

You can drink too much Celsius. Although it’s possible that drinking 20 degrees Celsius every day won’t kill you, we wouldn’t advocate it. Although we found several substances in Celsius to be problematic, it is still preferable to commercial energy drinks like Red Bull.

In moderation, Celsius has no negative effects. It has a moderate amount of caffeine and no added sugar because it is created using healthy ingredients. In addition, its rich vitamin content helps boost performance in both the body and the mind.

Is it bad to drink Celsius on an empty stomach?

It is bad to drink Celsius on a completely empty stomach!

Drinking Celsius and other energy drinks on an empty stomach can upset the acid balance which can lead to heartburns, damage the stomach lining and irritate the gut. In some cases, it can also cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.

Therefore, you need to have a proper meal or snack before drinking a can of Celsius!

Is there too much caffeine in CELSIUS?

CELSIUS energy drinks contain a moderate amount of caffeine compared to other energy drinks. However, whether there is “too much” caffeine in CELSIUS depends on individual caffeine sensitivity and tolerance.

Check the product’s nutrition label or contact the manufacturer for specific information.

Is Celsius FDA approved?

Unlike medications, dietary supplements like CELSIUS do not require FDA approval before being available for purchase. CELSIUS is considered a dietary supplement by the FDA and falls under the regulations of the DSHEA.

The FDA provides guidelines to promote the safety of dietary supplements and can take action if any supplements are found to be unsafe or have misleading information.

When should you not drink Celsius?

You should not drink Celsius if you think it is too much caffeine. Additionally, Celsius should not be consumed daily since it is still an energy drink, despite Celsius being healthier than other energy drinks as usual. You also do not drink Celsius when you do not plan on staying up.

Users who are sensitive to caffeine, those under the age of 18, and nursing or pregnant women are strongly advised from using CELSIUS. All products in the CELSIUS, CELSIUS STEVIA, and CELSIUS ON-THE-GO brands have been tested and shown to be kind to animals and not cruel to them.

Conclusion

I understand the temptation of grabbing a second can of Celsius but I don’t think it is a good idea as it puts your overall health at risk. Overconsumption can lead to caffeine OD, high blood pressure, sleep disorder, and other caffeine-related issues.

One can of Celsius Energy Drink a day is enough to keep you energized throughout the course of your workout.

Celsius definitely delivers when it comes to providing you with the ultimate boost that you need. It has no sugar, additives, preservatives, colors, flavors, high fructose corn syrup which makes it a better choice than other energy drinks in the market.

I am not saying this is a healthy drink because energy drinks are rarely healthy. However, Celsius could be a great option if you’re looking for a stronger boost than what coffee can give you.
