Are you a gamer or a daily exerciser? If yes, you might have heard about these two energy drinks: G Fuel and Gatorade. They have similar functions of hydrating, energizing, and providing a fresh experience.
Although the differences lie in the ingredients and the target audience, the drink is marketed for.
On the other hand, Gatorade is marketed as an energy drink for athletes or sports players. It contains rehydrating electrolytes as well as a high sugar content in the absence of caffeine.
Gatorade exceeds the flavor range with around 22 flavors in stock, with G Fuel having only 20. Although, the main difference lies in the fact that G Fuel is also available as a powder stored in sachets and tubs.
They both serve their purposes well for athletes. However, I would suggest you get your hands on Gatorade if you are a daily training person who demands a well-organized nutrition plan and excessive hydration.
You must be thinking, if both of these drinks directly or indirectly serve athletes, then how will I choose between them. I have made that decision easy for you.
Please keep reading to know about both of these drinks individually and compare them to get a detailed view of how they are different and what needs they individually cater to.
Manufacturers of G Fuel and Gatorade
Gamma Labs, situated in West Babylon, New York, sells G Fuel Energy Formula, a caffeinated drink combination.
It is touted as a gaming supplement that improves focus and reaction time.
Due to the lack of sugar in the product, Gamma Labs claims that it has an advantage over traditional bottled energy drinks in that it does not cause a sugar crash after intake.
The Gatorade Company, a PepsiCo subsidiary, develops sports performance products to fulfill the needs of athletes at all levels of competition and in a variety of sports.
Gatorade provides scientifically formulated products to meet the sports fueling needs of athletes in all phases of athletic activity.
Based on a more than 40-year history of studying the best athletes globally and years of hydration and sports nutrition research at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, they came up with Gatorade.
Ingredients of G Fuel and Gatorade
Gatorade, on the other hand, is known for its electrolyte capabilities. During high-intensity exercise, it aids in the replenishment of lost electrolytes and the maintenance of hydration. During illness, such as stomach infections, it can also restore electrolytes.
|G Fuel Ingredients||Gatorade Ingredients|
|Pomegranate Fruit Extract||Dextrose|
|Grape Seed Powder||Citric Acid|
|Malic Acid||Sodium Citrate|
|Acesulfame Potassium||Modified Food Starch|
|Natural And Artificial Flavors||Natural Flavor|
|Silicon Dioxide||Red 40|
|Adenosine-5 Triphosphate Disodium Salt (ATP)||Glycerol Ester Of Rosin|
G Fuel contains powerful energy-boosting stimulants like taurine and caffeine that can provide you a quick spark of energy that would be long-lasting.
Grape Seeds and Pomegranate Fruit Extract only makes the drink better. These ingredients are rich in antioxidants like phenolic acids, anthocyanins, and flavonoids that prevent diseases and help against stress and inflammation.
On the other hand, Gatorade lacks caffeine, which is the primary ingredient of any energy drink. I do not think it can be categorized as ‘an energy drink’, but more of a sports drink.
The presence of citric acid in it can be beneficial for the drink as a preservative, yet Modified Food Starch makes the drink harmful.
Modified food starch is used as a thickening or stabilizing ingredient and an anti-caking agent.
Modified food starch is harmful to your health since the substance has been exposed to potentially dangerous chemicals and is very susceptible to contamination.
It contains maltodextrin, a flavorless powder used in candies, sports supplements, and beverages as a binding agent. It has several adverse effects, including rapid weight gain and wheat allergy-like symptoms such as rashes, itching, and asthma.
G Fuel has more ingredients and nutritional elements. You can enjoy this, especially if you are a vegan because it contains artificial sweeteners, taurine, caffeine, and L-Citrulline Malate.
Caffeine Content of G Fuel Vs Gatorade
According to the FDA, G Fuel contains 150mg of caffeine, which might be safe to consume, but relatively higher than some competing energy drinks.
Gatorade is caffeine-free, which makes me conclude it as not being an energy drink, but more of sports water.
The FDA has determined that 400 mg of caffeine per day is not commonly associated with hazardous or harmful consequences in healthy persons which is why a can of G Fuel won’t harm you yet exceeding the limit might impose the following:
G Fuel is a caffeinated energy drink that can be safely consumed in moderation, providing an instant energy boost. Gatorade being non-caffeinated, is not much of an energy drink, yet it fulfills its energy source by including around 140 calories.
G Fuel and Gatorade Nutrition Facts
Here’s a short glance at the nutritional information for G Fuel Cans and Gatorade Energy to see how they affect you.
|Vitamin B6||0.4mg – 25%||0|
|Vitamin B12||0.6mcg – 25%||0|
|Vitamin C||45mg – 50%||0|
However, ingesting too many calories and not burning them off effectively through exercise can lead to weight gain, and not having enough calories can expose you to health risks since you will be deprived of energy.
According to the NHS, an average man requires 2,500 calories per day, and an average woman needs 2,000 calories per day.
Calories are soured from the food you eat offered to the body in terms of protein, carbs, or fats.
G Fuel does not provide a significant quantity of energy for your cells to burn from a nutritional standpoint, instead, caffeine offers the majority boost.
Whereas, for Gatorade, the 140 calories provide you with necessary energy since it does not contain caffeine.
G-Fuel contains B-Vitamins whereas Gatorade is deprived of them.
Vitamin B is part of the B vitamin family, consisting of eight different vitamins.
They are present in energy drinks because they play an essential function in energy metabolism. They have enzymes that aid in the breakdown of lipids and amino acids and the release of energy from carbs.
Since they are water-soluble, those that are not absorbed by your body are flushed out of your system, leaving no hazards. This permits energy drinks to include far higher levels than the daily recommended allowance without causing harm.
This makes G-Fuel stand out compared to Gatorade since the presence of B-Vitamins will help consumers get the extra boost of energy while supporting the immune system to stay healthy, increasing the red blood cells, and assisting in the processing of carbohydrates for energy.
G Fuel is sugar-free whereas, Gatorade that comprises 34g of sugar.
According to the AHA, males should consume no more than 37.5 grams of sugar per day, while females should consume no more than 25 grams.
One bottle of Gatorade can be harmful to you since it exceeds your daily recommended limit. I wouldn’t advocate for it since high sugar intake results in:
- Feeling jittery
- Risk of heart diseases
- Risk of kidney diseases
- Type 2 diabetes
- Risk of stroke
- Risk of cancer
G Fuel being sugar-free is a much better and recommended option since it would help you feel light and prevent you from the risks above.
G Fuel contains 85mg of potassium, whereas Gatorade comprises 75mg.
Consume foods and beverages high in sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and chloride to replace more electrolytes in your body.
While electrolytes provide an electrical charge to your body, they do not provide you with a direct burst of energy.
Electrolytes operate by keeping your body hydrated, which reduces the likelihood of you becoming exhausted, especially when participating in vigorous activities.
Although electrolyte imbalance can occur if your electrolyte levels are either too high or too low, which commonly occurs when you’re losing a lot of body fluid and becoming dehydrated.
Since both energy drinks contain a potentially high amount of electrolytes, they serve the body well by keeping you hydrated and supporting your energy-boosting function.
Can G Fuel be mixed with Gatorade?
Yes, many people have already tried them, and they have all given great comments.
For me, I’d recommend the White Lightning Gatorade and the Pewdiepie G Fuel taste, both of which are available online. When G Fuel and Gatorade are mixed, they taste incredible.
Though I agree that it is a delicious combination, you should constantly keep track of how many servings you are consuming. Both beverages have their own set of drawbacks, and drinking them both at the same time may offer you benefits as well.
Things I like and don’t like about G Fuel and Gatorade
|Like||Taste, Sugar-Free, Zero Calories, Vitamins, and Super Energizing||Calories, Cheaper, and Presence of Electrolytes.|
|Don’t Like||Caffeine Content and Use of Artificial Sweeteners||No Caffeine, High Sugar Content, and Taste.|
Price of G Fuel Vs Gatorade
A 12-pack of G Fuel 16 fl. oz cans costs roughly $24, which is average for an energy drink can of that size, whereas a 35 x 16.9 oz bottle of Gatorade costs around $15.89.
As you can see, Gatorade is a lot cheaper than G Fuel, but is it worth it?
My answer would be no. Gatorade has got some fantastic flavor that has a high rating on Amazon, like Orange and Lemon Lime, yet with all those sugars and harmful inclusion of ingredients, would you still go for it?
On the other hand, G Fuel is expensive compared to Gatorade, but it is worth the money due to the use of quality ingredients that are beneficial to health.
Alternatives to G Fuel and Gatorade
Monster Energy Drink
Monster Energy Drink contains 160 mg of caffeine, which will give you an immediate energy boost. However, this amount may be excessive for everyday usage, especially if you’re caffeine-sensitive.
If you have diabetes or are not a fan of sweet drinks, I recommend Monster Energy Zero Ultra or Monster Juice, with far less sugar.
Monster contains taurine, a natural amino acid found in the body that aids in the production of proteins that are essential for heart and brain function.
Similarly, Guarana’s presence cannot be overlooked. It contains several remarkable benefits, including stimulants and antioxidants.
Celsius Energy Drink
Caffeine, B-Vitamins, calories, the MetaPlus unique blend, and other energy boosters are all included in Celsius Energy Drinks to help you raise and improve your acting ability.
It claims to have a clinically proven compound that boosts metabolism and aids in fat burning.
The artificial sweeteners sucralose, acesulfame potassium, erythritol, and stevia are used in the Celsius energy drink, containing no sugar.
It is high in vitamin B, vitamin C, calcium, salt, and chromium, which are necessary for good health.
The calorie count of Celsius Energy Drink ranges from 10 to 15, which isn’t much compared to the recommended daily intake for men and women.
The caffeine concentration in Celsius Energy Drinks ranges from 100 to 300 mg, which is a good amount for most people.
I prefer less than 150 mg of caffeine per meal and no more than 300 mg for the entire day. Therefore, Celsius appears to be the ideal energy drink for me.
Gatorade is mainly made up of water, sodium, sugar, and electrolytes, but it also contains many calories. On the other hand, G Fuel includes all of those ingredients and additional vitamins, minerals, and, most importantly, caffeine.
So, what is the Athlete’s Choice drink? It is debatable! If we’re talking about traditional sports athletes, Gatorade is the way to go, but if we’re talking about esports players, G Fuel is the way to go.
I like G-Fuel since I need a regular caffeine dose to keep me awake and energized for the day, yet this could vary for people who aren’t caffeine addicts and can function well with light or zero doses of caffeine.
Although, it is okay if you do not want to choose between the two. G Fuel and Gatorade can be mixed to enjoy the benefits of both of these energy drinks. Just remember only to take it when necessary, and even then, only in moderation.
