How Much Caffeine Is In A Can Of Emerge?

Coffee Beans

The caffeine content of an 8.4 fl oz can of Emerge is 75mg which is equivalent to 8.87mg of caffeine per ounce.

75mg of caffeine is a fair amount, in my opinion, compared to Bang which has a whopping 300mg of caffeine.

I believe that this amount is sufficient to provide you with a good energy punch without worrying about being overly caffeinated.

However, caffeine usage should always be monitored. According to the EFSA, most healthy adults may consume no more than 400 mg of caffeine each day. Exceeding the recommended amount may pose public health concerns.

You may also suffer from the following adverse effects if you ingest too much caffeine and exceed your body’s caffeine threshold:

  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Occasional rapid heartbeat
  • Headaches
  • Dehydration
  • Heartburn
  • Upset Stomach
  • Irritability
  • Jitters
  • Restlessness and shakiness

Keep in mind that there’s no harm in consuming caffeine at low to moderate doses. In fact, this study has found that moderate consumption of caffeine provides the following advantages:

  • Improves physical endurance
  • Enhance cognitive function
  • Increase alertness and concentration
  • Boost mood and reaction
  • Lower the risk of fatigue
  • Lower the risk of oral cancer
  • Lower the risk of strokes for older women

But I highly recommended that you consume only one can per day to avoid caffeine overdose and other caffeine-related health problems.

If you’re interested in learning more about energy drinks with high caffeine concentration, I’ve written a detailed article about them here.

Is Emerge Energy Drink Sugar-Free?

The 250ml Emerge energy drink contains 8-12g of sugar depending on which version of Emerge you purchased.

When compared to Monster Energy’s 57g of sugar per 500ml can and Red Bull‘s 51g of sugar per 473ml can, this is an acceptable dose.

According to European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the typical sugar intake must not exceed to 9 teaspoons for men and 6 teaspoons for women. These amounts are equivalent to 150 calories for men and 100 calories for women.

It’s better to consume no more than the suggested dose in order to avoid serious health issues such as:

  • Addiction
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Fatty liver disease
  • Chronic inflammation

Sugar, on the other hand, offers several benefits like:

  • Gives you a massive burst of energy
  • Stock your energy to be utilized later
  • Boost your mood right away
  • Help improve your concentration

Is Emerge Energy Drink Calorie-Free?

There are 53 calories in a 250ml Emerge energy drink.

The usual adult caloric consumption, according to the EFSA, is between 2000 and 2600 kcal per day.

It’s important to remember that we require calories to grow and develop properly. Consuming too many calories and not burning enough of them, on the other hand, can result in weight gain.
