Raze Energy Drink

Raze is an energy drink found by Repp Sports, which is owned by their parent company MacroCap Labs. It is an up and coming energy drink which is very popular among fitness enthusiasts and gym goers.

Generally, a 16 fl.oz. can of Raze energy drink contains no sugar or calories. It has a whopping 300 mg of caffeine, which is much higher than the industry standard.

One thing that I can say is, compared to other 300 mg caffeine energy drinks in the market, Raze is one of the better tasting options available.

And to save the best for last, if you are anything like me then you would be glad to know that Raze does not contain any calories, fat, or added sugar.

All of this sounds really good right? You may be thinking now that you should have Raze every day since it sounds very healthy on paper.

If that is what you are actually thinking, then I would suggest you to take a step back and go through this article first.

The short version is: Yes, you can drink Raze energy drink every day as long as you have it responsibly and in moderation.

But there is a lot more that we would need to discuss in order to definitively answer the question “Can you drink Raze energy drink every day?”.

How Much Caffeine Is In A Can Of Raze Energy Drink?

Coffee beans
Too much caffeine can cause health issues in the future

A 16 fl. oz can of Raze energy drink has a total of 300 mg of caffeine anhydrous.

Now you may be thinking what is caffeine anhydrous. Well similar to caffeine, it is also extracted from coffee plants. The only real difference is, after extraction the caffeine is dehydrated to produce a highly concentrated caffeine powder. Hence, the word “anhydrous”.

The FDA warns people from having powdered caffeine as one teaspoon can be as potent as having 28 cups of coffee at once. There has even been a report of a 39-year-old man who died from a fatal caffeine overdose after he ingested 12 g of pure caffeine anhydrous.

But before you get the wrong idea, this is specifically for dry powdered caffeine. So, it can be concluded that it is relatively safe to have it in an energy drink.

However, that does not mean that it is without it’s risks. The FDA stated that the healthy limit for having caffeine is 400 mg per day. Exceeding that limit can cause problems such as:

  • Erratic Heartbeat
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Agitation
  • Insomnia
  • Seizures
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Addiction

How Much Sugar Is In A Can Of Raze Energy Drink?

Bowl of sugar cubes
Sugar can boost your mood and energy

If you are a health conscious person, then you’ll be glad to know that Raze energy drink is completely sugar free. However, it does use artificial sweeteners like sucralose and acesulfame potassium.

Added sugar is usually used in energy drinks to give you a boost in energy and uplift your mood. But there are many drawbacks to it as added sugar can cause health complications like high blood pressure, weight gain, and diabetes. This is why I try my best to avoid added sugar.

Comparatively, artificial sugars are much safer than regular or added sugar.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener that is more than 400-700 times sweeter than regular sugar. It is made from a process that uses regular sugar. That does not mean sucralose itself is sugar though. It is deemed safe to have by the FDA.

Acesulfame Potassium is another artificial sweetener that is more than 200 times sweeter than sugar. By itself, it can be quite bitter. So, manufacturers usually mix it with sucralose.

There are many controversies surrounding the use of artificial sweetener like sucralose and acesulfame potassium. They are relatively safe to have while others argue that it can have long term negative health effects.

I personally think a good rule of thumb would be to have products with artificial sweeteners in moderation. Plus, not having any sugar can save you from having a sugar crash.

How Many Calories Is In A Can Of Raze Energy Drink?

Burger and fries
The unit of energy is calories

As you can see from the ingredients section of the article, there are no calories present in Raze energy drink. The primary source of energy for Raze is the high caffeine content.

According to the FDA, the average calorie count is 2,000 calories per day. However, that amount may not be the same for everyone as it varies with age, gender, height, weight, and physical exercise.

If you’re someone who always keeps count of their calorie intake, then having Raze will not affect it in any way whatsoever.

What Is The Raze “reFRESH Performance Complex”?

As we have already discussed before, the Raze “reFRESH Performance Complex” is a blend of different ingredients.

So, let’s see what the purpose of these ingredients really are:

IngredientUse
Betaine AnhydrousIt is primarily used treat high homocysteine levels in the urine.
Potassium CitrateIt helps to make the urine less acidic and treat kidney stones.
L-TyrosineIt is used to improve mood and keep you alert.
Choline BitartrateIt helps to remove cholesterol from your liver.
BCAA AminosIt can increase muscle growth and reduce exercise fatigue.
Carnitine L-TartrateCan help prevent exercise fatigue and muscle weakness.
Alpha GPCIt can help improve thinking skills and memory
Caffeine CitrateIt can help treat fatigue, drowsiness, and respiratory issues
Breakdown of reFRESH Performance Complex

As you can see, other than the BCAA amino, most of these ingredients don’t really contribute much to your performance.

On the plus side, these ingredients do play a part in keeping your mind and body healthy. Unfortunately, since we don’t know the exact amounts of these ingredients, we can’t be sure how much we’re actually consuming.

Does Raze Energy Drink Actually Work?

I do think Raze works pretty well as an energy drink. It gives you a good amount of energy whether it’s for work, getting rid of that drowsy feeling, or improving your gym performance.

The label at the back of the can states that it can take usually up to 20-30 minutes for you to start feeling its affects.

Usually one of the drawbacks of having energy drinks with such high amounts of caffeine is that you end up feeling very jittery afterwards. Drinking Raze does not do that.

However, that depends on your caffeine sensitivity. If you’re very sensitive to caffeine, then it can possibly make you feel anxious and restless. In that case, I suggest you consult with a physician before introducing Raze into your lifestyle.

I linked an informative YouTube video that reviews the flavor and what it’s like to have Raze on a daily basis.

Is It Safe To Drink Raze Energy Drink Every Day?

It’s safe to drink Raze energy drink every day. Since it does not contain any sugar or calories, it can even be considered relatively healthy compared to its counterparts. However, the high caffeine content may be a cause for concern.

Since 300 mg of caffeine is a lot, you will need to keep yourself in check if you want to have other caffeinated drinks throughout the rest of the day.

Even drinking a cup or two of coffee can potentially send you over that 400 mg limit. If you have been reading this article so far, you already know what problems that could cause.

What Are The Long Term Effects Of Drinking Raze Every Day?

The long term effects of drinking any energy drink can be quite detrimental to your health. It can lead to heart problems, blood pressure issues, and high blood glucose.

Luckily in the case of Raze, you don’t have to worry about the last bit as it does not contain any added sugar.

There are many people who like to have energy drinks regularly. Whether its for gym or working late hours, people use energy drinks for a quick energy recharge so that they are able to get through those last few hours.

But the long-term implications are still being researched, even for these newer “fitness drinks”. Prolonged consumption of such high levels of caffeine is still unknown.

When should I drink Raze Energy?

Raze Energy is typically consumed as a pre-workout supplement to provide an energy boost and enhance focus and performance during exercise. It is best to drink Raze Energy approximately 15-30 minutes before starting your workout or physical activity to allow the ingredients to take effect.

However, individual responses to Raze Energy can vary, and some people may prefer to drink it at different times of the day to support energy and focus during other activities or tasks. If you plan to use Raze Energy for purposes other than as a pre-workout, consider your caffeine tolerance.

Is Raze a pre-workout?

Raze Energy is often considered a pre-workout supplement. It is formulated with ingredients like caffeine, amino acids, and electrolytes, designed to enhance energy, focus, and exercise performance. Many individuals consume Raze Energy before their workout or physical activity to experience the benefits of increased energy.

However, like any pre-workout supplement, individual responses may vary, and it’s important to consider personal tolerance to stimulants and other ingredients. If you plan to use Raze Energy as a pre-workout, follow the recommended serving size and consult with a healthcare professional.

Can Raze energy drinks cause heart issues?

Raze energy drink can cause heart issues. Raze energy drink boosts energy, but its high caffeine, sugar, and stimulant content may harm your overall health. Even healthy people should limit intake because it raises blood pressure, heart rate, and adrenaline.

Regular and excessive consumption can raise blood sugar levels, which increases the risk of a heart attack because caffeine and other Raze energy drink ingredients speed up the heart. Healthy adults should not abuse caffeine, and adolescents, children, and people with compromised immune systems should choose healthier alternatives.

What Happens If I Have Too Much Raze Energy Drinks?

If you have too many Raze energy drinks, some side effects will occur. Although it is unlikely that you will develop any long-term dietary issues. consuming an excessive amount of Raze can lead to a caffeine overdose if you drink too much of it.

The caffeine content is the only thing you need to worry about when drinking Raze on a daily basis, but since one can contains as much caffeine as two cups of coffee (300mg), it’s probably not the best idea to chug the whole thing at once.

Raze Energy Drink Flavors And Price

Can of Raze Sour Gummy Worms
Raze Sour Gummy Worms

Raze is available in 9 delicious flavors. They are:

  • Galaxy Burst
  • Grape Bubblegum
  • Guava Mango
  • Sour Gummy Worms
  • Strawberry Colada
  • Phantom Freeze
  • Watermelon Frost
  • Voodoo
  • Apollo

Here is a description of some of the flavors that I have tried.

Galaxy Burst

This is by far my favorite of the ones I tried so far. It has a candy-like flavor with a vanilla after taste. Almost like a dessert.

That means although there is a lot of sweetness, it isn’t as overpowering as some other energy drinks with actual added sugar in it. You can buy a 12 pack of Raze Galaxy Burst for about $30 from Amazon.

Sour Gummy Worms

This is my second favorite drink from the lineup. It has a strong citrus lime flavor which is paired with a strong sweet and sour flavor combination. Best of all, the aftertaste is very similar to having sour gummy worms.

But the reason why it’s not my favorite is that after drinking it for some time since the flavor is so overwhelming, my senses got dull which lead me to not enjoy this drink as much as I would have.

A 12 pack Raze Sour Gummy Bears range from $26 to $30 as listed in various places like Amazon or Walmart.

Strawberry Colada

Raze Strawberry Colada is a strawberry-based drink. There aren’t many outstanding strawberry-flavored energy drinks out there.

But this is an exception to the rule. When I drank it, I got a nice refreshing tropical flavor with strawberry mixed into it.

The flavor isn’t overpowering by any measure, which I also enjoyed quite a bit. A 12 pack Raze Strawberry Colada costs around $30 from Amazon.

Voodoo

Voodoo was launched by Raze during Halloween. At a glance, you can assume that it is an orange-flavored drink. In reality, it is a mix of an orange and tangerine flavor.

The fruity taste is very subtle and doesn’t overpower each other. If you like the idea of it so far, then I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy it.

Raze Voodoo is probably the cheapest option you have as it costs around $25 for a 12-pack from Amazon.

Alternatives To Raze Energy Drink

Here are some other similar energy drinks to Raze that you might want to consider. This list consists of energy drinks with 300 mg of caffeine.

If you want something with a lower caffeine content, then you can try:

Final Thoughts

As I have mentioned at the beginning of the article, yes you can drink Raze energy drink every day if you’d like to.

However, I personally would not recommend it as it can be quite a lot of caffeine to have in a single serving. 300 mg is a lot, especially if you like to drink coffee a few times a day.

It can easily cause you to exceed that 400 mg limit set by the FDA.

Rather, I would suggest you to drink Raze once in every two or three days.

Additionally, if we are talking about health concerns, Raze makes sure to minimize most health risks associated with drinking energy drinks. The decision to not have any sugar or calories was a great one for health conscious people.

Overall, I think Raze gets a lot of things right. But it’s not without its faults. Thus, if you have it in moderation, I think Raze can be a great choice for you.
